Comprehensive Calculator Guide

This calculator values gold in riyals from its weight, its karat and today's 24k price per gram, with an optional making charge. If 24k is SAR 500 a gram, 21k is SAR 437.50, and 50 g of it is worth SAR 21,875. Enter a budget to see how many grams it buys.

Karats, making charges and VAT

Karat is the share of pure gold out of 24: 24k is about 99.9%, 22k 91.6%, 21k 87.5% and 18k 75%. So a gram's price is the 24k price × karat ÷ 24. 21k is the most common for jewellery in Saudi Arabia.

Shops add a making charge per gram when selling and usually buy back at the raw price. Jewellery carries 15% VAT in Saudi Arabia, while investment gold of 99% purity or more is generally zero-rated. Prices move daily, so enter today's rate.
