Comprehensive Calculator Guide

This calculator estimates overtime pay under Saudi labour law: each overtime hour is paid at the normal hourly wage plus 50% of the basic hourly wage. With a basic salary of SAR 6,000, an actual wage of SAR 8,000 and 10 overtime hours, the pay is about SAR 458.33.

The rule and the steps

Article 107 of the Saudi Labour Law sets overtime at the hourly wage plus 50% of the basic wage. Overtime is work beyond 8 hours a day or 48 a week (6 a day or 36 a week in Ramadan for Muslim workers), and work on rest days and holidays.

Hourly wage = 8,000 ÷ 240 = 33.33; the premium = 0.5 × 6,000 ÷ 240 = 12.50; so an overtime hour is 45.83 and 10 hours pay 458.33. The 240 hours assume a 30-day month of 8-hour days; change it if your employer uses another basis, such as about 208 hours.
