Comprehensive Calculator Guide
This calculator works out an IVF due date from the embryo transfer date and the embryo’s age at transfer (day 3, 5 or 6), or from the egg retrieval date. A day-5 transfer on 1 October 2026 gives a due date of 19 June 2027. It also shows the blood test date, how far along you are today and the main appointments with their dates.
Why IVF dating is different
A natural pregnancy is dated 280 days from the last period because ovulation isn’t known exactly. With IVF the fertilisation day is known, so the due date is 266 days after it: 261 days after a day-5 transfer and 263 after a day-3 transfer. Frozen transfers count the same way.
Islamic rulings: the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (resolution 16, 1986) permits IVF when needed using the husband’s sperm and the wife’s egg, placed in the wife’s uterus during the marriage, and forbids donors and surrogacy.
How to Use
- Enter the transfer date, or the egg retrieval date.
- Choose the embryo age at transfer, or that the date is the retrieval.
- Press “Find my due date” to see the due date, test date and appointments.
Formula Used
Due date = transfer date + 266 days − embryo age | Equivalent last period = due date − 280 days | Blood test ≈ fertilisation + 14 days
Practical Examples
- Example 1: day-5 transfer
- Transfer on 1 October 2026: blood test around 10 October, due date 19 June 2027, equivalent last period 12 September 2026.
- Example 2: day-3 transfer
- Transfer on 15 November 2026: blood test around 26 November, due date 5 August 2027.
Important Tips
