How the day number is found
Add up the days of the earlier months and then the day itself: for 17 October 2026 that is 273 + 17 = 290, leaving 365 − 290 = 75 days.
In a leap year every date after 28 February moves up by one: 1 March is day 60 in 2026 and day 61 in 2024, and 31 December 2024 is day 366.
